Why Zoro & Tashigi?

They have become my all-time favorite anime pairing. I love their rivalry, and I would love very much to see romance between them (it would be just so cute!). If Eichiro Oda told me to kill somebody so Zoro and Tashigi would end up falling in love and living happily ever after, I think I would XD (j/k)

It's obvious they don't hate each other as much as they say - Zoro can't really hate someone who is so similar to his best friend and to himself, and I'm convinced that Tashigi felt attracted to him at first sight, especially after she saw him challenge the curse of Sandai Kitetsu in the sword shop in Loguetown. She was deeply impressed by his bravery and his way to understand the katana's soul, and she was also happy to have found someone who loved swords as much as she did.

When I watched episode 49, I instanctly fell in love with Tashigi (she's my favorite One Piece character, and probably my absolute favourite female character). I also loved the interaction between her and Zoro, and almost from the first day, I "saw" a possible romance. At the beginning I thought it was a little bit farfetched, but the more I think about it, the more convinced I am (blame the other Zoro x Tashigi fans who reassure me :P). I've never been interested in romance itself (that's why I mostly read shonen manga, I don't like stories that are too focused on love and relationships), and I've only called myself a fan of three anime couples before knowing Zoro and Tashigi. But I can say, out of these three times, I've never been wrong and they've always ended up together in their own anime series, so let's hope I'm not wrong this time either, because I do believe in Zoro and Tashigi (although we all know romance is not likely to happen in One Piece... who knows what future can bring? ^_~)

Back to episode 49 (my favorite OP episode, I already know it by heart ^.^), to me it was like a flash... come on, it's the CUTENESS... when Zoro was impressed by Tashigi's sword skills, and shocked to see her face, and broke her glasses... and when Tashigi took him to the Marine base and put him to work and clean floors, innocently believing she was helping a poor homeless boy *^_^* But above all, the scene in the sword shop!! Tashigi telling him how glad she was that he wasn't hurt, because a dangerous pirate was in town... without knowing he was actually that pirate ^_~ And how impressed she was after Zoro challenged the curse of Sandai Kitetsu against his luck... the way she looked at the door when he exited the shop, and her words: "I guess I lost it there... I can't even stand up!" That was "THE MOMENT", when I was sure Tashigi had fallen in love with Zoro... or, at least, she was attracted to him, and admired him. And might have ended up loving him, if she hadn't found out he was a pirate and, therefore, her natural enemy. The duel scene was also deadly intense... when Zoro told her about Kuina... He said he hated her for looking so much like Kuina, but as I said, I don't believe it. And Tashigi says she hates him for deceiving and humiliating her, but I don't believe it either. They have too much in common. Zoro feels uncomfortable because of her resemblance with Kuina, and Tashigi feels it's her duty to fight and capture pirates, but hey, they can't help but liking each other.

My theory is that, if they haven't fallen madly in love with each other yet, it's because they haven't been given the chance to speak calmly for 5 minutes (without Zoro running away or Tashigi trying to kill him) and realise how much they have in common and how they're meant to be. Come on, admit it. It's just destiny. Destiny made them meet, and destiny will bring them together. Maybe someday...
