ZORO
Zoro Roronoa is one of the main characters in One Piece. He's a great swordsman who dreams of becoming the best in the world. He used to be a famous bounty hunter, until he met Monkey D. Luffy, who saved him from the Marines and asked him to join his pirate crew. Zoro agreed in order to search for Mihawk (the current best swordsman in the world) and challenge him to duel. Zoro masters the Three Swords fighting style and is really strong.
When he was a little boy, he had a rival he could never beat: Kuina, the daughter of his kendo teacher. She also dreamt of becoming the best swordswoman in the world, and on the day of their 2001st duel, Zoro and Kuina made a promise: they'd become the best swordsman and swordswoman in the world, and then they'd fight again to see who was the best. Sadly, Kuina died in an accident soon after that, and Zoro was left alone with the mission of fulfilling the promise for her. That's why he was so shocked when he met Tashigi: because she looks exactly like Kuina (an adult version of Kuina, that is) ^^U
